THOUGHTS & SMILES:
God's Blessings for Health and Happiness
There is nothing better than other people praying for you.   We're not getting older, just getting closer to home!   Be Still. The instructions are to pick  people You want God to bless. I pick you.  This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's always pray for one another. *

*The prayer:   “Father, Thank You for each and every day You have blessed us here on earth. Thank You for Your tender mercies. Thank You for giving us friends and family to share our joys, and our sorrows. I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Where there is joy, give them continued joy, where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence. Where there is need, fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings.   In Jesus' name. Amen.”

-Prayer
Loving God, we come to you trusting in your mercy and knowing that your steadfast love endures forever. Look with mercy on those who are harmed or displaced. Give them strength to meet the days ahead, your peace which passes all understanding and new hope in the resurrection. Move in those who are able to give aid, that we may be your hands and heart on earth. Be with all who offer assistance, may your Spirit uphold them. As you have made water a sign of your kingdom, and of cleansing and rebirth, grant your people vision to see a new life on the other side of disaster.
To you be given all honour and praise, through Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. Amen

Please note the following announcement sent on behalf of Bishop Rob:

Good morning.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Moser as the new Children and Youth Missioner for the diocese of Qu’Appelle.  The appointment is a half time position effective January 8, 2014.  The stipend will be paid out of the diocesan mission action plan budget.

Julie has been involved in youth ministry for over 25 years with a special emphasis on discipleship-based ministries.  She has worked as a youth leader in Australia and Canada as well as a youth ministry trainer and advisor for Anglican Youthworks in the diocese of Sydney.  Julie is also the author of several youth Bible study resources and co-author of "Building to Grow, youth leadership training manual."

Julie is married to Ken and lives in Caronport, Saskatchewan where she also works as a part time high school chaplain.

We welcome Julie as the new Diocesan Children / Youth Missioner.

This is an exciting appointment. Having someone with the passion, experience and proven leadership skills that Julie has, is a great gift to the diocese for which we give thanks for  God’s provision.  This will not be an easy ministry to fulfil, there is a reason why Children and youth ministry is a major impetus in the diocesan Mission Action Plan.  There is much work to be done and we pray for willing workers to join Julie in building up children and youth ministry across the diocese.

Please uphold Julie and this ministry in prayer.  Thank you.

In Advent Joy

+ Rob Hardwick

 CHURCH NEWS –Dec. 12

THOUGHTS & SMILES:
A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning.
The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school. She also feared the electrical storm might harm her child. Full of concern, the mother got into her car and quickly drove along the route to her child's school.  As she did, she saw her little girl walking along.
At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile.  More lightning followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.
When the mother drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called, "What are you doing?" The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture."
May God Bless You Today and every day as you face the storms that come your way!!

Typhoon Haiyan – Philippines
On November 8, 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan, hit the Philippines’ Eastern Visayas Region. The devastation and loss of life is widespread and ongoing.
PWRDF partner Father Rex Reyes, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of the Philippines (NCCP), sent this message:  "I bid you pray for the repose of the dead, comfort to the survivors and strength to those who minister to their needs. Give of yourself that God's love may be made real."
The Canadian government has announced a matching grant program for donations to relief work in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.  Between November 9 and December 9, 2013, all donations received for typhoon relief from Canadians by registered charities—including PWRDF—will be matched, dollar for dollar, by the Canadian government. Relief agencies including PWRDF will be able to apply to the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund to enhance relief projects in the Philippines, although there is no guarantee that any project or agency will receive funding from the Relief Fund.
PWRDF has pledged an initial response of $20,000 towards the ACT Alliance appeal to be implemented by the NCCP in the Philippines.
