THOUGHTS & SMILES:
The Christmas Silence

Hushed are the pigeons cooing low
On dusty rafters of the loft;
And mild eyed oxen, breathing soft,
Sleep on the fragrant hay below.

Dim shadows in the corner hide:
The glimmering lantern’s ray are shed
Where one young lamb just lifts his head,
Then huddles against his mother’s side.

Strange silence tingles in the air;
Through the half-open door a bar
Of light from one low-hanging star
Touches a baby’s radiant hair.

No sounds: the mother, kneeling, lays
Her cheek against the little face.
Oh human love! Oh heavenly grace!
“Tis yet in silence that she prays!

Ages of silence end to-night;
Then to the long-expectant earth
Glad angels come to greet His birth
In burst of music, love, and light!

-Prayer
Loving God, we come to you trusting in your mercy and knowing that your steadfast love endures forever. Look with mercy on those who are harmed or displaced. Give them strength to meet the days ahead, your peace which passes all understanding and new hope in the resurrection. Move in those who are able to give aid, that we may be your hands and heart on earth. Be with all who offer assistance, may your Spirit uphold them. As you have made water a sign of your kingdom, and of cleansing and rebirth, grant your people vision to see a new life on the other side of disaster.
To you be given all honour and praise, through Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. Amen

New Advent Wreath

This gorgeous advent calendar was built by Don Ferridge.  On Sunday it was dedicated to Holy Trinity in loving memory of John and Cleone Ferridge and Kathy Smith.

Advent 3

Rejoice always! Let us rejoice with all our hearts. God is in our midst and rejoices over us with gladness.  My the lighting of this candle remind us of God's JOY, which comes to us in God's child, Jesus, whose day draws near.  Amen.
