From the Synod Agenda Committee

Calling all artists and crafters

On Saturday, October 24, as part of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle's Synod gathering, we are holding an ART AND CRAFT SILENT AUCTION to raise money for an initiative in our companion Diocese of Muyinga, in Burundi.

Located in central Africa, Burundi is a small country, covering 27.834 km2. Burundi links Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa.  Its northern border is shared with Rwanda, the western with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the eastern and southern borders with Tanzania.  The plan is to build a health clinic in the province of Muyinga, Burundi.  The project will aid in the fight against poverty, will create jobs, and help to improve the hygiene, nutrition, and well-being of the population.  The main goal of this project is to improve the health of the population, something which is absolutely essential to the development of the country.
The participation and understanding of the Anglican Church of Muyinga are critical to the success of the project.  We wish to support them in this endeavour through prayer and monetary donations.

To that end, we are requesting donations of art work and craft items, completed by amateurs or professionals and by local artists or from farther afield.  If you have an item to donate, please contact Kate Berringer at 306.530.7312 or with the following information:
1.    Description of item, including size and artist's name, if available;
2.    Approximate value of donated item;
3.    Reserve bid amount, if any.
Kate will make arrangements with each donor re: delivery to St. Paul's Cathedral, where the auction will be held, prior to October 24.

Everyone, whether a Synod delegate or not, is welcome to attend the auction during the day on October 24.   Bidding will close that evening, at a time to be determined.

We thank you in advance for your support of this worthwhile endeavour!
