CHURCH NEWS –Nov. 26

THOUGHTS & SMILES:
SMART ONEOne day a farmer's donkey fell down into a
well. The animal cried piteously for hours as
the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the
well needed to be covered up anyway;
it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbours to come over
and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began
to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the
donkey realized what was happening and cried
horribly. Then, to everyone's amazem
e
nt he
quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally
looked down the well. He was astonished at what
he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his
back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel
dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it
off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey
stepped up over the edge of the well and
happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds
of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well
is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of
our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out
of the deepest wells just by not stopping,
never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

Live simply and appreciate what you have.

Give more.

Expect less.

THOUGHTS & SMILES:
A mother was telling her little one what her own childhood was like:  “We used to skate outside on a pond; I had a swing made from a tire-it hung from a tree in our front yard; We rode a pony to school; We pick wild berries in the woods; We played kick the can outside until dark and then told ghost stories to scare each other; We had a playhouse in the trees and pick Grandmother's flowers to decorate our mud pies.”
The little one looked wide-eyed and replied, “I sure wished I'd had gotten to know you sooner!”

CHURCH NEWS –Nov.4

THOUGHTS & SMILES:
SIX LITTLE THOUGHTS

{1} When all villagers decided to gather and pray for rain, one small boy came with an
           umbrella.

That's FAITH
{2} When a baby is thrown gently in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her.

 That's TRUST

{3} Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next morning... but still we set the alarm to wake us.

 That's HOPE

4}  We have big plans for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of what can happen in future.

 That's CONFIDENCE

{5} We see imperfection, suffering and high divorce rates, but still we get married.

  That's LOVE.
{6} On an Old Man's shirt was written a cute sentence, 'I Am Not 73 Years Old’ actually, I am Still 16 with 57 years’ Experience.'

  That's a great ATTITUDE

Loving God, we come to you trusting in your mercy and knowing that your steadfast love endures forever. Look with mercy on those who are harmed or displaced. Give them strength to meet the days ahead, your peace which passes all understanding and new hope in the resurrection. Move in those who are able to give aid, that we may be your hands and heart on earth. Be with all who offer assistance, may your Spirit uphold them. As you have made water a sign of your kingdom, and of cleansing and rebirth, grant your people vision to see a new life on the other side of disaster.
To you be given all honour and praise, through Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord. Amen
